Safe Place

• Child Protective Services investigated over 550 cases of child abuse in 2003.
• Without the services of CAFE’s Assessment Center, child victims might be interviewed in police cars, emergency rooms, or at home where, often, the abuser is close by.

Support

• 24% of the children in Isabella County live in a single parent household
• Child Protective Services received over 1,000 reports of suspected child abuse in 2002
• Parents are the most important influence on their child’s life
• CAFE provides Parent Education services and support

Safety

• Car seats are 71% effective in reducing infant deaths, 54% effective in reducing toddler deaths, and 69% effective in reducing the need for hospitalization after a crash
• Last year CAFE checked 336 car seats, made 848 corrections to car seat installation, and distributed 162 free car seats
• 93% of the child car seats checked by Car Seat Technicians in Isabella County have been used incorrectly
  

Students

• Over 300,000 children are abducted each year
• Approximately 59% of the children who were abducted were taken from their yard, a park, a car, or a wooded area
• The Child Safety curriculum from CAFE teaches children about personal sategy.

Matching Gifts:

Increase the power of your contributions with matching funds from your company. Many companies encourage their employees to support worthwhile charities by matching their gifts 1:1, 2:1 or even 3:1. $60 – Parenting sessions for one family

$35 – Necessary car seat supplies for one year

$25 – New videos, books, and games for the Parent Resource Library
